The library is a semi-quiet study environment. Conversation and group study are allowed throughout most of the building.

Some of these quiet areas have air handlers that produce a low fan noise. If this is distracting, students can borrow noise-cancelling headphones.

You can also reserve individual study rooms.

    The Reading Room is the only designated quiet study space in the building. It features high ceilings, natural light, and plenty of tables and seating. Please refrain completely from conversations while in this room.

    All 7 tiers, Parks Library

    Out of the way spot with multiple individual study carrels with desks with overhead reading lights. This is the quietest spot in the library with stacks next to it, creating a studious atmosphere for focused work.

    Lower level, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, Parks Library

    Usually along the northwest walls, these areas tend to be quiet and the study carrels may also provide less distraction. Some are near open group study areas which may occasionally disrupt the quiet.

    1st floor, Parks Library

    Next to Bookends Café, this cozy room with comfortable seating is lined with wooden bookshelves filled with books from the leisure collection. Expect some traffic as people get to Bookends Café through this room.

    This peaceful area offers seating and serves as a quiet study space. This area serves as access for The Catalyst and the Rotunda.

    2nd floor, Parks Library

    Outside the Reading Room, the Rotunda is generally quiet and serene with an ornamental chandelier suspended from a high dome, walls adorned with murals, and doorways with decorative friezes, creating a calming study atmosphere. It features large study tables.
