Course Reserves is managed through Canvas for all formats, online and physical. We provide Reserves space for physical items at each of our locations.  

To enable Course Reserves in Canvas, follow these step-by-step instructions and then select the correct semester.  

Request items

Requests are processed on a first come, first served basis. You can submit any time and we encourage you to submit early to allow for processing time.

Materials will not be available until the semester is active.

Why Course Reserves?

Our goal is to help provide accessible and affordable education to your students, especially for classes with hefty reading loads from a variety of materials.

How it works

To set up Course Reserves in Canvas, add “Course Reserves” to your course’s navigation in Settings.

You can then start requesting items. Most items should be available digitally but if you need specific items to be held at the Main Desk, please let us know.

We recommend you submit your requests 4 weeks before the start of the semester. Submissions during the first 3 weeks of classes will likely not be available for at least a week. This estimate is dependent on workflows, specific items requested, and other variables.

In case the library doesn’t have the requested materials, you can place your personal item on Course Reserves. We also may order the required item and the library considers pricing, publisher’s license and class size before ordering the items.
