Scans

You can request digitization of small portions of library-owned print items. Audiovisual items such as DVDs or CDs are not included in this service.

We typically process requests within 1-3 days.

All borrowers, except FastTRAC borrowers, may use this service.

Request

Log in to your interlibrary loan account and fill out a “New request” form that fits your needs, usually “Article” or “Book Chapter.”

Scanned items are made accessible for screen readers.

Email us at borrdesk@iastate.edu if your scan is incomplete, incorrect, or inaccessible.

Scans are delivered to your interlibrary loan account. You will receive an email when the scan is available.

Copyright limitations

We will not fulfill requests that violate U.S. Code 17 sections 107 and/or 108.

We assess requests on a case-by-case basis. If your request is more than we can legally scan, we'll send the physical source material to the pickup location in your interlibrary loan account.
