Welch Ave Singers and Cantamus

Hear two choirs at this lunchtime concert. The Welch Ave Singers, ISU’s new student-run jazz choir and Cantamus will perform. Cantamus will sing some jazz, too, along with a song from the north of Finland and percussive sounds from ancient Malaysia.

Recyclables for Music (REFORM), EcoTheatre Lab, and MFA in Creative Writing and Environment students
Celebrate Earth Day at the Office of Sustainability annual celebration with "Conversations with the Earth," that incorporates performances by three campus groups.
Learn about student organization Recyclables for Music (REFORM) and see their latest instrument inventions. REFORM students turn everyday plastic waste into beautiful, functional musical instruments.
The EcoTheatre Lab will perform two short climate comedies, written for the international Climate Change Theatre Action initiative: The Polar Bears by Nicolas Billon and The Climes They Are a Changin' by MFA in Creative Writing & Environment playwrights, Summer Awad, Jessi Brock, and A'Ja Lyons.
Four students from MFA in Creative Writing and Environment will read their Mother Earth-inspired original works:
- Kelli Fitzpatrick presents flash fiction about ocean pollution.
- Shalini Singh reads eco-poetry, poems about caves and underground narratives.
- Mariana Castro Azpíroz presents creative nonfiction about climate change narratives.
- Geneva Toland shares poems about climate change and relationship with land.
Bonus: To coincide with the Earth Day event, the ISU Repair Cafe will offer skateboard, scooter, e-bike, wheelchair, and roller skate repair.
